Find your way to the right opportunity.
Practical guidance on how the First Nations Employment job board works, for job seekers, employers and recruitment consultants across Canada.
Find the opportunity that's right for you.
Search by what you do and where you want to be, keep a shortlist and hear about new openings.
Search jobs-
Finding jobs
Search by job title, skill or employer, and by city, province or territory. Narrow the results by pay, job type, category and on-site, hybrid or remote work, switch to the map to see where jobs are, or search by a job's Posting ID.
Go to Find Jobs -
Saving opportunities
Select the heart on any job to keep it on your shortlist. Saved jobs are tied to your job seeker account, so they are there from any device when you are ready to apply.
Your saved jobs -
Managing your profile and alerts
Add a headline and a short summary, upload your resume once, and choose the kinds of work and the provinces or territories you want. Job alerts use those choices to tell you about new postings that match, in the app and by email if you choose.

Understanding a job posting
Each posting sets out the pay and pay period, hours, job type, where the work happens (with a map), experience, education, languages, benefits and how to apply. "Applications close" shows the last day to apply, and the Posting ID lets you find the job again. The Indigenous-inclusive employer badge appears when the employer has indicated on that posting that they welcome applications from Indigenous people.
-
Where the work is
Every posting lists its work locations, with a map and a link to open each address in Google Maps. On Find Jobs you can search around a city or your current location, set a distance, or look for remote, hybrid or on-site work.
Search by location -
Who is offering it
Every opportunity links to the organization behind it: what they do, where they operate, the facts they have shared and every opportunity they currently have open. Postings show the name people know them by, with the legal name alongside when it differs.
Apply, then follow every step.
How applying works and what happens after you send it.
Your applications-
Applying for a job
Apply with the resume on your profile or upload one (PDF, DOC or DOCX), and add a cover letter if you like. Your resume goes only to the employer you apply to. Some postings send you to the employer's own site or email instead; the posting tells you which.
-
Following your applications
Every application shows its status: Submitted, Viewed, Shortlisted, Hired or Not selected. You get a notification, and an email, when the employer updates it, and you can withdraw an application you no longer want considered.

Two kinds of account, kept separate: employers hiring for their own organization, and consultants recruiting on behalf of clients.
Employers
Hiring for your own organization
-
Getting started
Create an employer account with your work email, then set up your company profile: your legal name, the operating names job seekers know you by, your logo, industry, size, a short description and your work locations. Every posting is published under this profile.
Create an employer account -
Posting a job
Posting takes three steps: job details, review, then publish. Save a draft at any point and come back to it. The review step shows the posting exactly as job seekers will see it, and the posting fee is shown at the publish step.
Post a Job -
Writing a clear opportunity
Use a plain job title and give the pay range and pay period, the hours and every work location. Keep requirements to what the role truly needs, list the benefits, and set an application deadline if there is one. In the description, a blank line starts a new paragraph and lines starting with "-" become bullet points.
-
Reaching job seekers
Once published, your posting appears on Find Jobs and on your company page, and job seekers whose job alerts match it hear about it in the app or by email. A clear title, category and location help the right people find it.
-
Managing applicants
Applications arrive in your dashboard with the applicant's resume and any cover letter. Update each applicant's status as you go (Viewed, Shortlisted, Hired or Not selected); applicants are notified when it changes. Download resumes to share with your team.
Your applicants -
After you publish
Your posting goes live as soon as payment is confirmed and gets a Posting ID job seekers can search. Company, title and work locations are then locked (contact us to change them); everything else stays editable. You can pause, reactivate or duplicate a posting, it renews at the end of each billing period until you cancel, and every charge has a receipt in Billing.

Consultants
Recruiting on behalf of clients
-
Getting started as a consultant
Create a consultant account. It is built for recruiting on behalf of other organizations: you add each client as a company, and every posting is published under the client's name rather than yours.
Create a consultant account -
Adding a client
Each client gets its own company profile with their legal and operating names, logo, description, work locations and a contact email. Archive a client when the work ends; their postings come off the public site, and you can restore the client later.
Your client companies -
Posting for a client
Post a Job starts by asking which client the job is for, then follows the same details, review and publish steps. The client's name and logo appear on the posting, and once billing starts the client on a posting cannot be changed.
Post a Job for a Client -
Keeping client work organized
A company selector on your jobs list shows one client at a time. Your dashboard breaks down active postings, postings awaiting payment, applicants and renewing spend by client, and Billing breaks your spend down by company.
Your dashboard -
Connecting candidates with clients
Applicants arrive in your dashboard, where you review them and update their status. Download resumes and cover letters to share with the client, and use the application email on a posting (it starts as the client's contact email) if the client should receive applications directly too.
-
Managing your account
Keep your name, phone and password up to date, sign out of other devices, and find every receipt for every client in Billing.

How First Nations Employment works.
Job seekers look for work. Employers post for their own organization, and consultants post on behalf of their clients. The platform is where the two sides meet; interviews and hiring decisions follow each employer's own process.

Common questions.
Short answers about how First Nations Employment works, what it costs and who it is for.
What is First Nations Employment?
First Nations Employment is a Canadian job board that helps Indigenous job seekers find work and connects them with employers who support Indigenous talent. Employers and consultants post jobs; job seekers search, save and apply.
Search jobsIs First Nations Employment free for job seekers?
Yes. Creating a job seeker profile, uploading a resume, searching, saving jobs, applying and receiving job alerts are all free. Job seekers are never charged.
Create a free job seeker accountHow do I post a job in Canada?
Create an employer account, set up your company profile once, then write the posting: pay, hours, work locations and how to apply. Review it exactly as job seekers will see it and publish; it goes live on First Nations Employment as soon as payment is confirmed, appears in Find Jobs and on your company page, and is sent to job seekers whose job alerts match. Recruiting for a client? A consultant account posts under the client’s name.
For EmployersHow much does it cost to advertise a job?
Employers pay $19.95 + GST ($20.95 in total) per posting per month; third-party consultants posting for a client pay $14.95 + GST ($15.70 in total) per posting per month. A posting renews every month until you cancel it, and every payment has a receipt. Job seekers never pay.
For EmployersCan I use a posting for LMIA recruitment advertising?
Yes: each posting has a dated, printable record of advertisement you can keep for your LMIA file. The “Print this posting” button on the posting page prints it, with when the job was posted, how long it has been advertised, the date printed, its web address and its Posting ID. First Nations Employment is not part of Employment and Social Development Canada or Service Canada and cannot confirm that your advertising meets the LMIA requirements, so check the current requirements on canada.ca.
Where do the jobs come from?
Employers and third-party consultants post jobs directly on First Nations Employment. The site also lists postings imported from Job Bank, the Government of Canada’s job board; for those, you apply on the employer’s own platform, and the posting tells you how.
What does “Indigenous-inclusive employer” mean?
The badge appears when the employer indicates on the posting that they welcome applications from Indigenous people. It is information the employer provides on each posting; not every posting carries it.
Jobs with Indigenous-inclusive employersCan I get alerts for new jobs?
Yes. Choose the kinds of work and the provinces or territories you want on your profile, and job alerts tell you about new postings that match, in the app and by email if you choose.
Can a consultant post jobs for more than one client?
Yes. A consultant account holds a company profile for each client, and every posting is published under the client’s name rather than yours. Each posting is billed at the consultant rate, and Billing breaks your spend down by client.
For ConsultantsHow is my personal information protected?
First Nations Employment handles personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Your resume is shared only with the employer or consultant behind a job you apply to, and you can access, correct or delete your information from your account pages.
